Variety Mayette
Origin:

This variety of walnuts from Poliénas, near Tullins, in Isère department, is one of AOC ‘Noix de Grenoble”; it still represents 7% of the regional walnut plantations, but Mayette trees are but hardly planted now.

The tree:

  • good vigour
  • semi-spread bearing
  • rather late bud-breaking (around April 12th - 26th), usually avoiding spring frosts
  • sensitive to blight and anthracnose
  • pollinator: Franquette
  • yield: only moderate to rather good, rather slow fruiting
